In LOVE NEAR THE EMPTY TOMB THE GARDEN OF HOPE, we understand the destruction of death by Christ’s own death and resurrection and how death itself is transformed into an act of life. It is the recreation of Sheol — the spiritual condition of being dead — into the paradise of God. Thus, in and through the death of Our Lord Jesus Christ and His resurrection, death is made “to die”. “Through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead” the human race has been given “a living hope” (1Pt1:3). The resurrection of Christ is a theology of hope for our resurrection both now and at the end of the age. By believing that “God raised Jesus from the dead” we can now be broken free from all sin and all bondage to sin. The hope of the future resurrection is to be the stabilising force of our faith. This hope of a resurrection guides how we live now as “I have hope in God…that there will be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and the unjust. This being so, I myself always strive to have a good conscience without offense toward God and men” (Acts 24:15-16). This and many other debateable issues are discussed from the Orthodox Church point of view. The crux of the faith of the gospel is to have faith and hope in the resurrection.
